A default slide layout usually has a headline and bullet points.
This is OK on occasion, but try to mix up the slide layout. If you're using a slide design template, you probably have around 8-12 slide design choices.
If you add an image to a slide, choose a slide template with a specific place for an image.
If you have an important visual, go big with it and keep the text minimal.
If you have different sections or parts to your presentation (hopefully you do), add visual breaks to indicate it.
You can emphasize it through slide design.
